Godox Knowled MG6K High-Output Lighting Discussed

At Cine Gear 2025, we caught up with Davi Valent, a Director of Photography who is acting as a Godox product ambassador, to talk about the newly announced Godox Knowled MG6K light fixture. With this new product, the company claims industry-leading power efficiency in the high-output lighting category. Let’s take a closer look.

The MG6K’s primary selling point centers on power efficiency. The fixture achieves brightness comparable to a 6K HMI while consuming only 4300W of power. This is positioning the light as an attractive option for productions concerned with power consumption and heat generation.

According to Godox, this efficiency advantage allows them to “output the most light with the least power consumption” in their category, a claim that could prove particularly valuable for location shoots with limited power infrastructure.

Technical specifications and features

The MG6K offers full bi-color capability, with color temperature adjustment ranging from 2800K to 10,000K, plus green-magenta correction. This range covers the full spectrum typically required for professional cinematography, from warm tungsten matching to daylight balancing.

The fixture incorporates Godox’s G-mount system, which the company describes as providing “the widest accessory ecosystem for a hard light.” This mount system accommodates both traditional Fresnel reflectors and soft light modifiers, including large lantern-style diffusers.

Market positioning and target audience

Godox positions the MG6K squarely in the professional market, targeting rental houses and large productions requiring high-output lighting solutions. At $11,650, the fixture sits in the premium category while potentially offering cost advantages through its power efficiency claims.

The company’s strategy extends beyond single fixtures, with Davi noting that productions can choose between “very high output color option” and “super high output white color option” depending on their specific needs.

Product strategy: dual-track approach

Alongside the MG6K, Godox simultaneously introduced the MG2400, which brings 2,600 watts to the table. This dual-product launch suggests a comprehensive strategy to address different production requirements within the high-output lighting category.

The MG2400 (priced at $7,590) is positioned as “the brightest colored light on the market,” according to Godox, indicating the company’s intention to compete across multiple high-performance lighting segments.

Availability and distribution

The MG6K is currently finishing mass production and will be available through Godox dealers globally. The company did not provide specific shipping dates but indicated that availability would be “soon” across all regions.

Competitive landscape considerations

While Godox makes bold efficiency claims, the professional lighting market includes established players with proven track records in high-output fixtures. The success of the MG6K will likely depend on real-world validation of these efficiency claims and how they translate to practical production benefits.

The G-mount accessory ecosystem represents another competitive battleground, where compatibility with existing modifier investments could influence purchasing decisions for rental houses and owner-operators.
