Libec QL40B Tripod with Single-Section Quick Lock Design Introduced

Libec has released the QL40B, a two-stage aluminum tripod that makes setup quicker and easier. Due to a redesigned locking system, users are only required to use the upper quick locks to adjust the height. Let’s take a look!

Libec is a Japanese, family-run manufacturer of tripods, tripod accessories, and more. In case you missed it, we visited their factory to see how their tripods are made – make sure to check it out.

Now, the company has released the QL40B tripod, which supports a 40kg (88.1 lbs) payload while weighing 2.6kg (5.7 lbs) without spreader and feet. With the floor spreader attached, it offers a height range from 55.1 cm to 181.9 cm (21.7in to 71.6in). The tripod uses flip-style quick locks positioned on the upper leg sections and features a 75mm bowl head attachment. Three accessory ports with 1/4″ and 3/8″ screw holes are integrated into the base design. A removable carrying handle makes it easy to transport.

Operational differences

Unlike conventional two-stage tripods that require unlocking both upper and lower leg sections, the QL40B’s patent-pending mechanism keeps all the locking at the top. When released, the legs extend without resistance, saving time and effort during setup.

Height comparison

The QL40B extends approximately 30 cm (11.8in) higher than Libec’s RT30B model. With video head and floor spreader attached, the total system height reaches 198 cm (77.9in), positioning camera lenses above 200 cm (78.7in) for elevated shots without additional accessories.

The QL40B tripod clearly targets a variety of shoots, such as documentary, event, and interview, where frequent height adjustments and setup speed are priorities.
