Maxima 6 GaN Light Introduced – Quiet and Efficient?

Maxima 6 GaN Light Introduced - Quiet and Efficient?

European lighting producer Maxima has just announced its new Maxima 6 GaN lights which are filled with new technology promising great performance. The GaN stands for Gallium-Nitrate – the circuitry of the lamp is made out of this material, which allows for a greater lux-to-weight ratio than in usual LEDs, plus improved efficiency and high CRI color rendition.

The new efficiency king?

According to Maxima, Gallium-Nitrate semiconductors are more efficient than silicone ones. This means Maxima can create smaller lights that produce less heat and direct more energy toward the light. It makes it possible to have smaller heat sinks and use air cooling instead of liquid cooling. Plus, fans are not required.

A quiet place – finally?

Maxima also claims that their new light is one of the quietest on the market today with a noise level of 19 dBa in silent mode – which is basically inaudible. There are other modes as well such as regular and boost mode, which will increase the noise generated to up to 29 dBa.

Mounting possibilities

The light is available with three mounting options: a Bowens mount, the native Profoto mount, and an Arri QLM mount.

Features and numbers

Here are the numbers for the new Maxima 6 GaN:

  • More than 60.000 lumens
  • Output comparable to regular 700W LEDs
  • Power consumption of only 600W
  • Color accuracy of 98.3
  • 5,600 K Full-spectrum white light
