Chinese lens manufacturer Zhong Yi Optics has just released another very fast Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm prime lens, this time for L mount: The Zhong Yi Optics 50mm F0.95 III is exactly the same lens as the already available versions for Canon RF, Nikon Z and Sony E mount and Leica M but this time specifically for the L mount.
Having a so-called nifty fifty lens (50mm focal length) in the kit is mandatory for most shooters. And having a very fast one is even more desirable for most.
The Zhong Yi Optics Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm F0.95 might be worth a closer look here, especially since it is now available for almost all common mounts, including the L mount.
If you’re a Panasonic S1(H) or S5 shooter or if you happen to own a SIGMA fp (L) camera, or even a shiny Leica SL or SL2 this new version sporting an L mount might be of interest to you. If offers a 50mm focal length a very fast F0.95 aperture and it is, just like the other versions of this lens, fully manual.
Video shooters can leverage the de-clicked aperture ring for smooth exposure control. The long focus throw of almost 360 degrees allows very precise adjustment of the focus point. The lens has a 67 mm filter thread, so front filters can be easily screwed in.
With its 11 elements in 8 groups, the optical formula of the Mitakon Speedmaster improves the image quality and ensures high sharpness and contrast even at wide open aperture. The extra-low dispersion element should successfully reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations. According to Zhong Yi Optics, the color reproduction is very close to that of the human eye.
The new Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 for L mount is available now $799.
The L mount version is not yet available on B&H or CVP, I’ll update this article once it shows up there. For now you can purchase the lens directly over on Zhon Yi Optics own website.
