Portkeys LS7P Monitor Introduced – New OS with Log Color and Cine Norm Tools

September 24th, 2025Jump to Comment Section

Portkeys has unveiled the LS7P, a lightweight, 7-inch on-camera monitor featuring a 1080p display, 1000 nits brightness, and both HDMI and SDI inputs. Designed for flexibility, it supports 4K signal input, runs on NPF batteries (with an optional V-mount adapter), and offers mounting points on multiple sides for a compact rig setup. We discussed the monitor at the Portkeys booth with Chung Dha Lam.

We’ve covered Portkeys monitors before, including the PT5 III 5.4-inch HDMI monitor, and we had a look at the LS7P a few months ago, which you can read about here for more detail on its 7-inch display, wireless control, and one-to-many system. At IBC 2025, we revisited the LS7P, this time within Portkeys’ new operating system framework, highlighting how it blends entry-level usability with selected pro-level features.

New operating system: MOVNORM and CINENORM

The LS7P introduces Portkeys’ updated operating system, split into two categories. Move Norm targets entry-level shooters with a simplified menu system, while Cine Norm is aimed at professionals who need advanced customization. Chung said that although the LS7P falls into the Move Norm category, it borrows several pro-level features from the Cine Norm category, including customizable log color tools and higher-end camera control.

Log Stops and exposure tools

One of the standout additions is the new Log Color system. While earlier entry-level Portkeys monitors offered a more simplified false color, the LS7P introduces a stop-based approach that maps exposure values by stops and allows assigning custom color ranges. This lets operators, for example, set a background two stops under key or tailor highlight references, without relying solely on waveform or histogram readouts.

Hardware and mounting options

The LS7P’s back plate is designed for direct attachment of wireless transmitters such as Accsoon or Hollyland, eliminating the need to mount them separately on the camera. It runs on standard MPF batteries, with the option of converting to V-mount using the BD3 adapter. All connectors (HDMI, SDI, power) are grouped on one side. The body includes mounting points on the top, bottom, and one side, making it straightforward to integrate into different rig configurations. The LS7P accepts both HDMI and SDI inputs, but cross-conversion is limited to one direction, with full cross-conversion reserved for higher-end Portkeys models.

Camera control and multi-camera support

Camera control is available via wired or wireless connection, depending on the camera. The LS7P currently supports Sony FX6 and mirrorless models and now adds Canon C400 cinema camera compatibility. Firmware updates are expected to broaden the list, including autofocus integration. A forthcoming multi-camera function will let one monitor control up to four cameras, with an external antenna accessory extending the wireless range to 50 meters.

Price and availability

The Portkeys LS7P is available for $449 / €403.89 through most retailers or on the Portkeys store. For more information on the monitor, visit their website.
