SHAPE introduces a new line of Pro Video Tripods

SHAPE introduces a new line of Pro Video Tripods

SHAPE has introduced a new line of heavy-duty video tripods, the SHAPE Pro Video Tripods ST15 and ST20. The Canadian camera accessory manufacturer claims these tripod systems are “built to withstand the rigors of the set and last a lifetime”. Let’s check out the specs and see what these new camera supports can do.

SHAPE offers a range of video production solutions from camera cages, bags, and supports to follow focuses and batteries. CineD covered the release of their SHAPE SVT10K, an affordable fluid head tripod for cameras up to 22 lbs (10kg). These two new systems, however, are aimed at a higher-end market and are designed to support heavier cinema rigs.

SHAPE ST15 & ST20 Height Extension Range

These SHAPE Pro video tripods are full systems for videographers and camera operators who use cameras and accessories up to 33 lbs (ST15) & 45 lbs (ST20).

Both tripod systems seem to feature exactly the same tripod legs with two carbon fiber stages, a 100mm bowl diameter, and aluminum leg clamps. The difference between the two lies solely in the fluid heads’ weight capacity. The ST15 is capable of performing smooth, counterbalanced pans and tilts with cameras up to 33 lbs. The ST20 can handle cameras with a total load of 45 lbs and weighs just 2lbs more than the ST15.

ST15 Left | ST20 Right

Both heads come with locking aluminum knobs and allow a tilt range of +90°/-70° and a pan range of 360°. The camera plate for the ST15 provides a travel range of 60mm, and ST20 provides a travel range of 70mm.

SHAPE states that the tripod legs for both systems are strong, stable, and corrosion resistant, while still being lightweight and easy to use. They feature a height range of 31 to 66.75” (78 to 169.5 cm) for low and high-angle shots when using the included floor spreader. The legs can also be adjusted independently when on uneven terrain, and the bottoms have aluminum spikes for slippery surfaces.

Price and availability

Both, the SHAPE ST15 and the ST20 are available for pre-order on SHAPE’s site now. The SHAPE ST15 is currently priced at $1,799.00, while the SHAPE ST20 is priced at $3,379.00.
