SUMOLIGHT SUMOMAX Hexagonal RGBWW LED Light Introduced

SUMOLIGHT SUMOMAX Hexagonal RGBWW LED Light Introduced

The new SUMOLIGHT SUMOMAX is a hexagonal RGBWW LED light whose shape allows to quickly assemble a large honeycomb light array. This high-output fixture is completely dimmable and it features a wide CCT range, interchangeable beam angle, screw-free mounting system, and built-in lighting effects.

Last year, we reported about the introduction of an expandable LED wall concept by German lighting company SUMOLIGHT. This brand is also famous for their SUMOSPACE+, a hexagonal LED fixture that stands at the core of the company’s SUMOSPACE modular lighting system.

This family is now growing with the introduction of the SUMOLIGHT SUMOMAX. This new RGBWW LED light is built on the legacy of the SUMOSPACE+, but it comes with superior features and brighter output. Let’s take a closer look.

SUMOLIGHT SUMOMAX: high-power output

The new SUMOLIGHT SUMOMAX is a full-spectrum 700W with a 19-pixel RGBWW LED structure and a peculiar shape. Indeed, the fixture features a hexagonal flat design that makes it possible to quickly arrange multiple SUMOMAX units into a large honeycomb array.

Another aspect that sets the SUMOMAX apart is its extremely wide color temperature spectrum which ranges from 1,800 up to 15,000K! Moreover, the light is completely dimmable from 0 to 100% of its intensity. According to the company, this powerful light source can output up to 20,500 lux at a distance of 3 meters. Such a bright output requires a silent passive cooling system to work properly.

This hexagonal light features a native beam angle of 20°. However, this can easily be expanded via a series of interchangeable clip-on optics (30°, 60°, 90°, 120°). This provides a great amount of flexibility for shaping and controlling the light.

The honeycomb structure

Building and disassembling a honeycomb structure of SUMOMAX units should be pretty straightforward thanks to the SUMOSNAP one-click quick-release system. This comes in handy to create light walls and large soft light sources on big productions. Moreover, every single fixture of the array can be controlled individually or as a group.

By the way, the SUMOMAX is packed with the advanced set of control and connectivity features you would expect from a modern LED fixture. Indeed, the light can be controlled via the built-in touch screen display, DMX/RDM, Ethernet, or Wi-fi.

Design, mounting options, and effects

Each unit weighs approximately 15.8kg/35lbs and measures 561x500x175mm / 22.1×19.7×6.9” in size, thus offering a quite lightweight lighting source considering the extended area.

The SUMOMAX features a screw-free interface to facilitate mounting operations onto truss systems and grip hardware, while an optional yoke is available to purchase separately. Finally, the light comes with a series of integrated lighting effects, such as the built-in 30Hz Shutter/Strobe function.
