Tilta has introduced a new universal SSD holder and four new 15mm rod mounting clamps. These new rigging options expand Tilta’s accessories line, which had been largely proprietary and brand specific with their ‘Tiltaing’ line. Let’s take a look at these new offerings.
Tilta has emerged over the years as one of the leading camera accessories makers. Their products are reasonably well built for their price range and offer camera operators good options for building their rig. However, their components are usually designed to work exclusively with only their cages.
That’s why it is really great to see them making universal products.
The Tilta Universal SSD Holder Type I is designed to work with a wide range of external drives. Tilta notes its compatibility with “Samsung T5/T7, SanDisk E61/E81, and many other popular external SSD drives”. The holder is extendable from 52.5mm to 60.0mm, which should fit most modern SSDs.
It is constructed out of aluminum and stainless steel to keep it lightweight and to ensure it will survive on set to keep your drive and data safe. The Tilta Universal SSD Holder uses an adjustable 1/4”-20 mounting screw, making it compatible with most cages and expanding options for mounting locations.
An integrated cable clamp helps to prevent accidental disconnections between the camera and the SSD.
The four new 15mm rod holders allow for more options to securely mount 15mm rods for follow focuses and other accessories. Compatible with a wide range of attachment types, these new rod holders have been developed to take advantage of the attachment points on their more recent camera cages’ 1/4″-20 or NATO rail attachments.
Tilta Universal SSD Holder and Tilta’s new 15mm rod holders are available to order directly from Tilta’s site. The SSD holder is listed for $25, and the rod holders are listed between $10-15.
