Wise Advanced i4 Mobile SSD Introduced - With Built-in MagSafe

Wise Advanced has announced the i4 Mobile SSD, a compact external storage device designed with Apple users in mind. It’s about the size of the palm of your hand, and features MagSafe compatibility, along with data transfer rates up to 4000 MB/s, and a sustained write speed of at least 650 MB/s. Let’s have a look!

Wise Advanced, founded in 1992 and based in Taipei, Taiwan, develops high-speed storage media designed for professional photo and video workflows. Their lineup includes CFexpress Type A and B cards, SDXC memory cards, solid-state drives, and card readers. The i4 Mobile SSD for iPhones is the latest in their mobile lineup.

Transfer speeds and iPhone compatibility

The i4 Mobile SSD delivers very fast read speeds up to 4000 MB/s and write speeds up to 3500 MB/s, with a minimum sustained write speed of 650 MB/s. That makes it fast enough to record high-resolution video directly to external storage on supported iPhones, including 4K ProRes at 120 fps on the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max (only certain iPhone models support recording ProRes directly on an external storage device connected with USB-C. For specific models, please see the link here.)

The i4 uses a built-in MagSafe-compatible ring to attach to the phone (does not offer charging functionality).

Build and connectivity

The device is powered by a “next-generation low-power-consumption chip,” which the company says is integrated into the i4 Mobile SSD, allowing it to operate without active cooling or an external power supply. It’s powered via USB-C and comes with two cables: a 50 cm (19.68 in) USB4 cable that’s USB-IF certified, and a shorter, more flexible 10 cm (3.93 in) option.

It is available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB.
