CAME-TV has introduced the Hub Pro, an extension unit for its 1.9GHz full-duplex intercom headsets that pushes a single system from nine users to 16, and to 32 when two hubs are linked. We spoke to founder and owner Frank at the company’s IBC 2026 booth about how the unit works, what it costs, and who is actually buying these systems.
Many of you will still associate CAME-TV with its Boltzen Fresnel LEDs, but the company has spent the last few years concentrating on wireless communication, and its intercom range now covers three cross-compatible headset families. We covered the WAERO Pro launch early last year, sat down with the company’s Ivy Lin at IBC 2025 to go through the same system, and reported on the compact CAME-NANO pod when it arrived in 2024. The Hub Pro is the piece that ties all of them into a larger network.
According to Frank, the current lineup consists of three headset models, all operating on the 1.9GHz DECT band: the new KUMINIK8 Pro, the lighter WAERO Pro, and the NANO pod. A master headset on its own supports up to eight remote headsets, which gives you a nine-person system with nothing else in the chain. Beyond that number, the Hub Pro takes over.
The Hub Pro has two master units built in, labeled M1 and M2 on the housing, and each of them extends the system to 16 remote headsets. To go further, two Hub Pros connect to each other over a 3.5mm cable, which lifts the total to 32 headsets on one network. Frank was clear that this is where the system currently tops out.
Grouping follows the master count. A single master handles three talk groups. When two masters are combined inside a hub, one group is consumed by the link between them, so the combined system offers five groups in total rather than six. That is the number to plan around if you want camera, sound, and floor on separate channels while keeping a director’s group on top.
The unit also carries wired audio in both directions. Frank listed 3.5mm TRS audio input and output as well as XLR audio input and output, which is what lets the Hub Pro feed program sound into the headsets or route the intercom mix out to another system. Bluetooth is built in as well. The Hub Pro runs on a camera-style battery, and Frank quoted a runtime of 30 hours, which comfortably covers a full event day on one pack.
Range is where the hub changes the geometry of a setup rather than the raw specification. A master and a remote headset have a working range of about 500m (roughly 1,640 ft) between them. Frank described the Hub Pro as the center of a circle: place it in the middle, and every remote headset can be 500m out in any direction, so two crew members can be up to 1km (about 0.6 mi) apart while still talking through the hub. The link budget per headset does not change, but the coverage area does.
Asked who the typical customers are, Frank listed stadium and live events first, followed by filmmakers, then football coaches, and, as one recent example, a group of hunters. The film market is a real part of the business, but it is not the biggest part. Walking IBC this year, that pattern repeats at almost every intercom booth: the event world is considerably larger than broadcasting, and the show’s name has not kept up with who is actually buying.
Frank also pointed out that CAME-TV has been building intercom products for about ten years, with an early wireless headset that predates most of the affordable full-duplex systems now on the market.
The Hub Pro price is not final. Frank put it in the range of $400 to $500, which places the hub a little above the cost of a pair of headsets. The headsets themselves list at $128 per unit for the KUMINIK8 Pro and $111 each for the WAERO Pro and the NANO, and all three models work together on the same network, so a mixed system can be assembled from whichever form factor suits each crew position. No shipping date was given at the booth.
