DaVinci Resolve 20.1.1 Update Available Now

Blackmagic Design has released DaVinci Resolve 20.1.1. This update is smaller than the last one, focusing on fixing issues, improving performance, and maintaining stability. It’s a maintenance release meant to smooth out day-to-day work rather than introduce new tools.

If you missed it, version 20.1 earlier this month was a much bigger release, adding support for Apple Vision Pro workflows on macOS along with a wide range of creative tools and improvements.

You can read our full coverage of that release here.

Version 20.1.1 now follows as a cleanup update, clearing up bugs and polishing some of the new features.

What’s new in DaVinci Resolve 20.1.1

  • Faster load times for cloud projects
  • Attributes dialogue now remembers user selections
  • Better handling of retime and motion persistence when copying attributes
  • Fixes for PSD imports in Fusion
  • Magic Mask offset issue resolved in Fusion
  • Corrected lens space transforms in Fusion comps
  • Media Out in Color and Mix mode now reflects Magic Mask
  • Crashes fixed for Depth Map on Intel Macs, MTS clips, and some MKV clips
  • Dolby Vision metadata formatting improved
  • Restored dual-screen layouts when switching pages
  • Clearer bit rate and quality layout for Windows codecs
  • General performance and stability improvements

This update tackles a bunch of little things that can trip people up. Cloud projects with stacked timelines should open faster, and the Attributes dialogue will finally keep the options you set instead of resetting every time. Over in Fusion, PSD files now load the way they should, Magic Mask doesn’t slip when you switch modes, and lens space transforms behave properly.

On the color side, Magic Mask results now carry through to Media Out, and Dolby Vision metadata gets formatted correctly. Several crash situations have also been fixed, including Depth Map on Intel Macs, corrupted MTS clips, and certain MKVs. Windows users get a clearer codec layout, and dual-screen setups should return to normal when switching between pages.

Overall, it’s not about new features but about making the software less likely to slow you down or crash while you’re working.

A quick look back at 20.1

Version 20.1, earlier this month, was a bigger deal. It added:

  • Better keyframe handling and custom guides in the Edit page
  • Magic Mask v2 and the new Immersive Patcher in Fusion
  • ACES 2.0 support and improved safe area tools in Color
  • New Resolve FX, like ColorTone Diffuser and Split Tone
  • Fairlight support for Apple Spatial Audio and 32-bit float recording

So while 20.1 gave people new tools to play with, 20.1.1 makes sure those tools actually run more smoothly in day-to-day use.
