Deity ASM1 Adjustable Shockmount with Built-In XLR Connector Holder Released

Deity microphones recently released an affordable microphone shock mount with a built-in XLR connector holder: the ASM1. The ASM1 supports up to 0.87″ in diameter shotgun microphones and retails for only $99. Let’s take a closer look at all the features of this versatile shock mount!

Chinese audio-specialized company Deity microphones have been manufacturing cost-effective audio solutions for quite some time now. The least we can say is that they’ve built a solid reputation with products such as the Deity Connect wireless system and the TC-SL1 timecode slate we reviewed.

Deity is now back with an affordable microphone shock mount that has nothing to envy to the big players out there: the ASM1.

Deity ASM1 features

The Deity ASM1 is a compact shotgun microphone shock mount that is made of metal with thermoplastic suspensions. The suspensions are what help reduce unwanted vibrations, bumps, and handling noises.

In the case of the ASM1, you have two suspensions: a sliding suspension at the bottom and the main suspension where your microphone is mounted. You can mount any shotgun microphone with a diameter between 0.75″/19mm and 0.87″/22mm. To give you an idea, it should work with microphones such as the Sennheiser MKH 416, the Schoeps CMIT 5, the RODE NTG4, and so on.

At the base of the ASM1, you’ll find a built-in XLR connector offset holder, so your cable is firmly locked in place. Furthermore, the shock mount comes with a shielded XLR jumper cable; that’s a nice addition!

At the bottom of the ASM1, you’ll find a 3/8″-16 mounting point and a 3/8″-16 to 1/4″-20 mounting adapter.

Near the suspension, there is a cable management clip. This clip holds your cable in place and prevents it from hitting the microphone or shock mount and creating unwanted noises.

If you want another mounting option, there is an action-camera-style hinge at the base of the ASM1. This mount is compatible with GoPro mounts if you want to get creative when placing your microphone!
