Euro Cine Expo, a New Industry Tradeshow, Postponed to 2022

A new kid on the block in a difficult time: The Euro Cine Expo trade show in Munich is getting postponed to 2022. The promoters want to ensure exhibitor and visitor safety and limit the spread of COVID-19.

A newly announced industry show, Euro Cine Expo, which was supposed to take place next week, was postponed to July of next year. They offer a 2-day event including seminars and workshops in Munich, Germany.

The exhibition is aimed to be held every two years, with companies and exhibitors from all around the globe.

The promoters published a statement on their website:

Our team hope you are staying safe and well through these challenging times. We want to assure you that we are committed to limiting the spread of COVID 19. Due to this commitment, venue policy, further restrictions in Germany and new waves of COVID 19 across Europe, we have unfortunately had to postpone the 2021 event.

Our priority is exhibitor and visitor safety and we want to ensure that when we host Euro Cine Expo, we do this at a time when we are able to deliver a valuable event for everyone involved. In view of the ongoing timescales which we are hearing about from multiple countries, we feel that a 2022 event would be better placed to bring the industry together at a time when networking and engagement can be maximised.

We wish you all the best and firmly believe our industry will emerge stronger after this difficult time.

Moved from 2021 to 2022

Instead of June 24th & 25th this year, the Euro Cine Expo will be held on the 1st and 2nd of July 2022 and will coincide with the Munich Film Festival.
The location remains the Zenith Kulturhalle, a big industrial hall in Munich, Germany. The promoters also offer a virtual platform, which seems to have become a new standard for events since the pandemic started in early 2020.

Exhibitors at the new trade show

The website already presents companies that will be exhibiting in Munich next year including Vitec Creative Solutions (Teradek, SmallHD and more), Grip Factory Munich (GFM), Cooke, Astera, DOP Choice, Nanlite, Chrosziel, Leitz, Cartoni, Aputure and more.

Euro Cine Expo is starting small of course, but the timing and location of the event is far from other similar events in Europe, which means it could attract a decent amount of visitors and exhibitors. The promoters seem to look for further exhibitors and state that it will “not clash with other international events”.

Difficult time for real life events

It’s unusual to see new trade shows popping up, especially in a time where in-person meetings get replaced with video calls, livestreams and virtual alternatives. Established trade shows like NAB and IBC were forced to move their exhibitions to a later date or switch to virtual or hybrid events.

photokina was even suspended until further notice due to the ongoing pandemic and the market decline of consumer cameras.

Let’s hope that real life events like trade shows can take place without major health concerns in the near future.

Would you take part in real life trade shows this year or do you prefer virtual events? Let us know in the comments.
