FUJIFILM GFX100 II Firmware 2.50 Released – Now Compatible With FUJINON GF 32-90mm Power Zoom Lens

FUJIFILM has released firmware version 2.50 for the GFX100 II, bringing the large-format mirrorless camera into full compatibility with the FUJINON GF32-90mm T3.5 PZ OIS WR power zoom lens. The update unlocks T-value/F-value aperture display switching and zoom mode control directly from the camera body.

The GF32-90mm T3.5 PZ OIS WR was originally announced alongside the GFX ETERNA 55, designed as the dedicated cinema zoom for FUJIFILM’s first purpose-built cinema camera. With Ver. 2.50, that lens now integrates properly with the GFX100 II as well, giving owners of the hybrid flagship meaningful access to a lens that brings a full cine barrel, built-in power zoom, and OIS to the GFX system. As we covered in our dedicated lens announcement, the GF32-90mm features a constant T3.5 aperture, 0.8 MOD geared rings, a 111mm circular front filter thread, and a minimum focusing distance of 80cm.

What the update adds

Two specific functions become available after installing Ver. 2.50. First, a new option in the Display Settings within the Setup Menu allows users to select whether the aperture value is shown as a T-value or an F-value. For cinematographers working on multi-camera shoots or alongside other cine equipment, matching aperture readout conventions across the production is a practical detail that matters more than it might initially seem. Second, it becomes possible to select whether zoom is operated via the zoom ring or the zoom lever on the lens body, toggled through the zoom mode switch on the GF32-90mm itself.

Neither of these functions is available without first updating the GF32-90mm T3.5 PZ OIS WR to its own latest firmware. FUJIFILM recommends installing the latest lens firmware first, as installing the camera firmware alone without updating the lens will not enable the new functionality.

Context and how to update

The GFX100 II has received a steady stream of meaningful updates since launch, including F-Log2 C support for an expanded color gamut and USB-C timecode synchronisation with Ambient devices in Ver. 2.30, and wireless security hardening in Ver. 2.40. Ver. 2.50 continues that pattern with a feature addition that meaningfully broadens the camera’s appeal as a hybrid production tool when paired with GFX-mount cinema glass.

The standard update procedure applies: download the firmware from FUJIFILM’s support page, copy it to a formatted memory card, and install via the Setup menu under USER SETTING. The FUJIFILM XApp can also handle the transfer in the background over Wi-Fi. A fully charged battery is required, and the process takes approximately five minutes. Users who have not yet installed Ver. 2.40 can update directly to Ver. 2.50 without intermediate steps.
