Godox has unveiled the LiteWafer UP150R, an ultra-thin full-color LED panel delivering 20,400 lux at 1 meter despite its sub-inch thickness. The fixture offers full HSI/RGBW/GEL control across a 1800K to 10,000K CCT range, integrated V-mount power, and the ability to link two panels into a single unified light source.

The LED mat category has expanded rapidly in recent years, with manufacturers racing to pack more output into increasingly portable form factors. Godox enters this arena with a fixture that aims to deliver serious brightness without sacrificing the portability that makes slim panels so appealing for run-and-gun work, vehicle interiors, and cramped studio spaces.

Output that rivals larger fixtures

Godox claims the UP150R achieves up to four times the brightness boost compared with standard panel configurations, thanks to high-efficiency LED chips paired with precision optical lenses. At 5600K, the fixture reaches 20,400 lux at 1 meter, which Godox says is roughly double the output of many competing lights in this class. The company emphasizes that this brightness increase does not come at the expense of light quality; the UP150R is designed to maintain the soft, even illumination characteristic of professional panel lighting.

Color accuracy sits firmly in broadcast-grade territory with a CRI of approximately 97 and TLCI of approximately 98. For commercial work, narrative productions, and interview setups, these numbers should deliver natural skin tones and consistent color reproduction from capture through post. The fixture also offers green/magenta adjustment across the full -100% to 100% range, giving colorists and DITs flexibility when matching to other sources on set.

Slim profile, flexible mounting

The UP150R measures 354 x 24 x 680mm (13.94 x 0.95 x 26.77 inches) and weighs approximately 3.2kg (7.05 lb) for the light body alone. That slim profile remains consistent whether using the bare fixture or the complete assembly with controller and accessories, making packing and transport considerably easier than traditional panel lights.

Godox has developed a Quick-Release Mounting System specifically for the UP150R, streamlining rigging in tight spaces. Two mounting options are available out of the box: a standard 5/8-inch baby pin mount, or the optional UP150RUH01 Universal Swivel Holder, which features a unibody construction and expanded tilting range for more precise positioning. A quick-release softbox is also available for those who need additional diffusion.

Full-color control and effects

The UP150R provides comprehensive color control through HSI, RGBW, and GEL modes. The wide 1800K to 10,000K CCT range covers everything from warm tungsten to cool daylight and beyond, while the dedicated GEL mode allows users to emulate common color correction and creative gels without physical filters. For dramatic visual storytelling, 14 built-in lighting effects offer options ranging from practical simulations to stylized looks.

Dimming is continuously variable from 0% to 100%, with four selectable dimming curves: linear, S-curve, exponential, and logarithmic. This flexibility should prove useful for matching the UP150R’s response to other fixtures on set or achieving specific fade characteristics for in-camera effects.

Control options and connectivity

For quick setup, the UP150R features built-in NFC pairing that connects instantly to the Godox Light App for wireless control via smartphone or tablet. Bluetooth range extends to approximately 30m, providing reasonable flexibility for positioning the fixture relative to the operator.

Professional production environments can integrate the UP150R into existing DMX workflows through the optional DMX-TRS1 adapter, which enables wired DMX/RDM control. The included UP-C150 controller handles primary fixture operation and features a USB-A port for firmware updates and 5V/1A power output.

Dual-panel expansion

One of the more interesting features is the ability to connect two UP150R units horizontally or vertically using the included straight connector, creating a significantly larger light source from a pair of portable panels. When combined with the UP-C300 dual-light controller (sold separately), both fixtures can be adjusted simultaneously as a single unit, streamlining exposure changes and color adjustments across the expanded surface.

This approach offers a modular alternative to purchasing larger, heavier fixtures, with the added benefit that each panel can be used independently when the situation calls for it.

Power and portability

The UP150R features an integrated V-mount plate, allowing direct battery operation without external adapters or additional mounting hardware. This design choice significantly improves mobility for location work, eliminating cable runs to external power distribution when running on batteries.

The UP-C150 controller accepts AC input from 100V to 240V at 50/60Hz, with 180W maximum power draw. The controller itself measures approximately 104 x 75 x 160mm (4.09 x 2.95 x 6.3 inches) and weighs around 0.85kg (1.87 lb). A shoulder strap is included for handheld or mobile operation.

Thermal management

The UP150R uses a full-metal chassis that serves dual purposes: structural rigidity for professional use and passive heat dissipation during extended operation. Godox claims the fixture maintains consistent output and stable color performance without thermal throttling, even during long shooting days. Operating temperature range spans -20°C to 45°C, accommodating a reasonable variety of location conditions.

The Godox LiteWafer UP150R is priced at $699 for the light fixture. Pricing may vary by region due to differences in VAT and tax rates. Optional accessories including the UP150RUH01 Universal Swivel Holder, UP-C300 dual-light controller, DMX-TRS1 adapter, and quick-release softbox are sold separately. At this price point, the UP150R competes directly with RGBW panels from Aputure, Nanlite, and others, though the dual-panel connectivity and integrated V-mount plate are notable differentiators.
