Godox has introduced the RS100Bi and RS100R, a pair of cylindrical S-Mount monolights pairing a built-in battery, up to 28,600 lux at one meter (RS100Bi at 5600K with the lens reflector), and USB-C PD fast charging in a backpack-ready form, starting at $229. The bi-color and full-color RGB versions scale up the integrated-power approach Godox launched with last year’s RS60Bi/R, occupying a price-sensitive gap below the company’s mains-powered SL line and well below the KNOWLED tier.

The new fixtures sit directly above the 60W RS-series monolights that Godox positioned as a tool for “lighting places, not faces” rather than as a primary key. The RS100 generation aims considerably higher: it adds wattage headroom, swaps the RS60’s hybrid power options (removable cell, NP-F via DC, AC adapter) for a single integrated battery, and pushes lens-reflectored intensity into territory where the fixture can plausibly carry a key. Crucially, the front of the body remains a Godox S-Mount, which means anyone already running RS60 softboxes, projection attachments, or beam reflectors plugs them straight onto the new chassis.

Output and form factor

The RS100Bi delivers a claimed 28,600 lux at one meter (3.3 ft) at 5600K with the included high-efficiency lens reflector. That puts it in roughly the same output bracket as Godox’s mains-powered SL100Bi, which we covered when it launched at $199 to $299 with a claimed 32,100 lux. The trade-off is the obvious one: the SL100Bi needs a wall outlet, while the RS100Bi runs on its own cell.

The full-color RS100R takes the customary output hit that comes with broader-spectrum emitters: 15,900 lux at one meter with the lens reflector at 5600K, and 2,860 lux from the bare light. Godox publishes per-channel reflectored lux as well, with red at 3,880, green at 8,830, and blue at 3,260, which gives saturated single-channel work a real reference point rather than a marketing claim.

Both fixtures share the cylindrical AD100-style body that the RS60 introduced, scaled up to fit the larger LED engine, the integrated battery, and an expanded cooling chamber. A standard 1/4-20 thread sits on the body, and the supplied AD-E2 bracket adds a 5/8 in receiver for light stands, so the lights mount to a C-stand, baby pin, articulating arm, or directly onto a cage without a separate adapter.

Built-in battery and PD fast charging

The integrated battery delivers around 52 minutes of continuous full-output runtime on either fixture, which is honest rather than class-leading. It comfortably covers a typical run-and-gun setup, but heavy-use days will need a wall outlet or a sizable PD power bank standing by. Charging runs over USB-C Power Delivery, with compatibility across an 18W to 140W charger range (sold separately), and Godox quotes around two hours to a full charge from a 60W or higher source.

The fixture supports simultaneous charge-and-shoot operation, which is an operationally important feature here. With one caveat: when the battery falls below 5%, output during charging tracks the input wattage closely. A low-wattage PD brick will not keep a 100W fixture running at full tilt once the cell is depleted. Given how many cinematographers now carry a single high-wattage USB-C charger for their laptops, monitors, and field workstations, consolidating the light onto the same charger ecosystem is a real convenience, as long as you size the brick appropriately.

The runtime countdown on the rear OLED display is genuinely useful here, surfacing remaining battery time alongside the dim percentage and mode, so crews can make a clean call on whether to start a take or swap to mains.

Dimming, color modes, and CRI/TLCI

Dimming runs from 0.0% to 100.0% in 0.1% increments, with a true 0.0% floor that supports clean fade-outs without the visible last-step drop common to coarser-stepped LEDs. Four selectable curves (linear, S-curve, exponential, and logarithmic) let operators tune the dimming response to either a smooth narrative ramp or a more aggressive practical-effect snap.

The RS100Bi covers a 2,800K to 6,500K CCT range with a claimed CRI of 98 and TLCI of 98, plus 11 built-in lighting effects, putting its color-rendering numbers near the top of Godox’s compact bi-color lineup on paper. The RS100R extends the CCT range to 1,800K to 10,000K, adds full RGB control, and exposes 14 FX presets across CCT, HSI, RGBW, GEL, X-Y, and FX modes. Color metrics for the full-color unit come in slightly lower at a claimed 95 CRI and 95 TLCI, which is consistent with full-spectrum emitter behavior. For cinematographers working to a delivery standard, the RS100R also lets users select between Rec. 709 and DCI-P3 gamut targets, alongside the original or correction gamut.

The S-Mount ecosystem and the SP36/50K projection attachments

As with the RS60 and the larger KNOWLED fixtures Godox has been pushing recently (the KNOWLED M300R, the KNOWLED MG4K, and the PaletteLab series), the front of the RS100 is a proprietary cylindrical mount, in this case Godox S-Mount, designed for fast modifier swaps. The compatible ecosystem is broad: lens reflectors, parabolic and rectangular softboxes, the Lantern, the BeamLight S20 narrow-beam booster, the LiteFlow modifier, a magnetic accessory kit, a collapsible diffusion dome, a parallel beam booster, zoom lenses, and the SP36/50K projection attachments.

The projection attachments are particularly worth flagging. Godox is selling the SP36/50K as an “ultra-mini” design, and the dimensions back that up: the company quotes 134 Γ— 198mm (5.27 Γ— 7.80 in) for the SP36/50K against 237 Γ— 277mm (9.33 Γ— 10.91 in) for a traditional projection attachment, a meaningful reduction in both length and bulk for run-and-gun work or tight set conditions. The body rotates a full 360 degrees and accepts interchangeable lenses, turning the RS100 into a genuinely usable gobo projector for backgrounds, signage cues, and stylized practicals. That capability is essentially what differentiates the upgraded “1K” SKUs (more on those below).

The launch imagery also makes clear that Godox is positioning the RS100 as a system rather than a single fixture, with multi-light deployments using mixed modifiers (a parabolic softbox, a Lantern, and a projection attachment driving an interactive practical, for example) shown across its launch materials. With a sub-$250 entry point per fixture, building out a four-light kit costs less than a single mid-tier KNOWLED head.

Control: NFC tap-to-pair, app, and DMX

NFC tap-to-pair brings the RS100Bi/R into line with Godox’s recent fixtures, including the KNOWLED AM1600R inflatable mat light. Bringing a phone close to the marked NFC spot connects the fixture to the Godox Light app automatically, eliminating the manual scanning routine, and the app handles parameter control plus firmware updates over Bluetooth at a stated range of roughly 30 m (98.4 ft).

Wired DMX/RDM is available through the separately sold DMX-C2 adapter, the same module that integrates Godox’s smaller fixtures into larger lighting consoles. Worth flagging for production lighting designers: there is no built-in CRMX in this version of the RS100, which keeps the price aggressive but also positions the fixture distinctly below the MS-series and the new PaletteLab line, where wireless DMX is part of the package. For run-and-gun crews and small narrative units, that is unlikely to be a blocker; for larger multi-fixture lighting designs, the absence is a meaningful constraint.

Real-world deployment

The expanded cooling area on this generation is one of those incremental engineering changes that only becomes obvious after long takes in a hot location, but which directly affects whether output stays stable across a full battery cycle. Both fixtures are fan-cooled, so users planning quiet sync-sound work will want to test the noise floor in their own environment before committing.

The included accessories (USB-C charging cable, AD-E2 stand bracket, lens reflector, storage pouch) cover the basics for an out-of-the-box deployment, though notably absent is a PD charger of any kind, so anyone without a 60W-or-higher USB-C brick will need to factor that into the total cost.

Pricing and availability

The RS100Bi retails at $229 in its bare-fixture configuration, with the RS100Bi 1K Projection Attachment Kit priced at $339. The full-color RS100R is $319, and the RS100R 1K Projection Attachment Kit lands at $469. The “1K” SKUs add the SP36/50K projection accessory to the box.
