LockCircle X-Cage for FUJIFILM GFX 100s Introduced

Italian manufacturer LockCircle has just announced a new cage for a beast of a medium format mirrorless camera: the FUJIFILM GFX 100s. The newly announced X-Cage for the said camera features the well-known modularity (and style) expected from LockCircle.

The new X-Cage for the FUJIFILM GFX 100s is a tailored and modular cage available in two finishes: either black anodized or the new anodized Dura-T finish.

LockCircle X-Cage

The X-Cage is not a singular product, but rather a complete line of matching components built around a custom base cage for the FUJIFILM GFX 100s. To quote directly from the press release:

One of its features is the exclusive combination between ergonomics, that offers an unique handheld feeling and rigging for heavy-duty productions, without limitations, offering a serious protection for the camera.

The X-Cage offers 150 threads 1/4-20 and 7 threads 3/8-16 for mounting a myriad of accessories, should you need as much…

The X-Cage integrates with the original GX-PL mount using the CineBlock interface bracket, creating a rock-solid production camera designed for shooting with heavy high-end PL lenses.

Integrated into the cage are the MultiPort HDMI / USB 3.0 / Audio port savers. The LockPort (a LockCircle classic) provides a 90 degree HDMI adapter with full-size rear output to protect the ports when using monitors or 4K outboard recorders.

The cage is quite light (245 g) and has several threads for mounting a measuring tape hook (titanium pin) exactly on the focal plane of the sensor.

An ultra-light MicroMega-M baseplate for standard 15mm rods is also available. An ARRI BP-8 Baseplate Adapter is designed to connect the X-Cage to the universal ARRI 19mm rod compatible range of accessories, follow focus, aperture/focus motors, and matte boxes.

To sum it up, the new LockCircle X-Cage is a very versatile (and customizable) device, even if it is “just” another camera cage. But most of the accessories can be used with other cages as well, so the only thing you really need to get started with the LockCircle ecosystem is the base cage. Everything else can be swapped out with equipment you already have. Pretty neat!
