NANLITE has announced the latest addition to their PavoTube II XR series – the PavoTube II 6XR, a 25cm-long RGBWW pixel tube light. This T12-sized fixture features 8 individually controllable pixels and professional wireless control options, including LumenRadio CRMX compatibility, aimed at film, video, and content creators.
The PavoTube II 6XR incorporates RGBWW color mixing technology with a color temperature range from 2700K to 12000K and ±150 green/magenta adjustment. According to NANLITE, the fixture delivers an output of 562 lux at 0.5m (5600K) and features high color accuracy with CRI/TLCI average readings of 96/97 and TM-30 Rf/Rg average values of 93/100.
Weighing 270g (9.5oz), the light features a polygonal back design for stable placement on flat surfaces and includes built-in magnets at both ends for direct attachment to magnetic surfaces. The fixture is also compatible with existing PavoTube II 6C accessories.
Each light features eight controllable pixels within its 22.5cm (8.9in) illuminated area. The light offers five lighting modes:
The fixture can be controlled through multiple methods: on-board controls, the NANLINK App 2.0, DMX/RDM, or LumenRadio CRMX. The latter options allow independent programming of each pixel, which could be particularly useful for professional lighting setups requiring customized effects.
The PavoTube II 6XR comes with a built-in 3200mAh rechargeable battery. Additionally, the fixture includes a USB-C port supporting PD 3.0 protocol (requiring minimum 20W PD3.0 adapter), compatibility with optional F550 battery grip for powering from NP-F550 type batteries, and support for various input voltages: 5V/2A, 5V/3A, 9V/2A, 9V/3A, 12V/2A, 12V/3A, 20V/1A.
NANLITE has also introduced an 8-light kit specifically for the PavoTube II 6XR. The kit includes eight light fixtures, light modifiers and mounting accessories, a custom Gutek T-230 charging case with an IP67 rating, three power supply options (AC power, V-mount battery, and PD adapter), and simultaneous charging capability for all eight fixtures via electronic contacts.
With the introduction of the 6XR, the PavoTube II XR series now includes four different size options. According to NANLITE, the longer tubes are designed for simulating elongated light sources and providing broad coverage, while shorter tubes like the 6XR are intended for tight spaces and detailed lighting applications.
In case you missed the reviews, we previously tested the original PavoTube II and the PavoTube II 6C.
The PavoTube II 6XR is now shipping for $149, while the 8-light kit costs $1490 (both excluding local tax). The light and kit will be on display at the NAB Show in Las Vegas at booth N2859.
For filmmakers looking for compact, versatile lighting tools with pixel effects capabilities, the new addition to the PavoTube series appears to offer a balance of portability, control options, and creative flexibility. The addition of professional features like CRMX compatibility in a fixture this size could make it an interesting option for productions of various scales.
