NANLITE PavoTube II XR Launched - Adds LumenRadio CRMX Support

Less than two years ago, NANLITE announced the PavoTube II X, and now they have announced the PavoTube II XR, adding support for LumenRadio CRMX, which greatly expands remote controllability of these fixtures. Let’s take a closer look.

LED-based RGB(WW) tubes have revolutionized lighting for film over the last few years, and NANLITE has been at the forefront of this development with their original PavoTube, which was introduced five years ago at an aggressive price point. In 2021, we saw the introduction of the next generation, the PavoTube II X, which enhanced the product greatly in many ways (color rendition and accuracy, connectivity and so much more). The NANLINK app was also introduced, which enhanced interoperability. Be sure to read our NANLITE PavoTube II X review here in case you missed it at the time.

PavoTube II XR: CRMX LumenRadio wireless DMX controllable

The PavoTube II X fixtures have gained a reputation for delivering very high-powered RGBWW performance (for an LED light) over the last two years, and the PavoTube II XR maintains that same performance. The great thing about RGBWW LEDs is that illumination is really consistent across the super-wide color temperature and RGB spectrums (we’re talking about a whopping CCT range of 2700K-12000K here!). Color rendition – namely CRI and TLCI ratings – are also in the high 90s.

That’s all nice and well, but what’s new, you might ask? Unlike the PavoTube II X, the new PavoTube II XR tubes can use LumenRadio CRMX wireless DMX controls to access the lights’ pixel-based and practical effects, CCT adjustment (including full green/magenta tuning), and even the full HSI control.

What does the upgrade mean for gaffers?

The upgrade for LumenRadio CRMX means that in addition to the previously supported 2.4GHz and Bluetooth connectivity of the PavoTubes, it will be possible to integrate the PavoTube II XRs into professional wireless DMX setups. For example, this should make the creation of complex LED-based lighting displays or access to the pixel mapping features of the fixtures more straightforward.
