NANLUX Evoke 2400B – Hands-On with a High-Power Bi-Color LED Light

During Cine Gear 2023, we stopped by the NANLUX booth to talk with Andy Lin about a bi-color COB LED fixture still in the prototype stage: the Evoke 2400B. So let’s take a closer look at this 2400W LED light that should start shipping at the end of this year!

NANLUX focuses on creating high-output LED fixtures for the professional filmmaking market. While NANLITE, its brother company specializing in LED lights for independent filmmakers and content creators, is topping the scale at bi-color 720W fixtures, NANLUX is competing with HMIs. Indeed, some lights, such as the NANLUX Evoke 1200 and 1200B bi-color we reviewed, have incredible light outputs.

Recently, NANLUX also launched the Evoke 900C, its first 940W RGBLAC LED light. Furthermore, ahead of Cine Gear 2023, the company teased a very high power fixture: the NANLUX Evoke 2400B.

NANLUX Evoke 2400B – features

While the Evoke 2400B is still in the prototype stage, NANLUX is relatively quiet about many of the fixture’s details. Here is what we know so far:

  • Similar to the Evoke 900C and 1200B, the Evoke 2400B will be IP55 rated, meaning it’ll be dust/water resistant and can be used during light rain.
  • You can adjust the color temperature from 2700K to 6500K with plus and minus Green/Magenta adjustments up to 80.
  • At the front of the light head, you’ll find an NL mount with some pins for electronic communication. Some electronically adjustable lighting modifiers might be released along the light, but there is no official information about it yet.

  • At the back of the light head, you’ll find the 96V DC input, two LAN RJ45 ports, and DMX input/output ports.
  • The ballast will be huge, and NANLUX is working on a new cooling mechanism.

At the moment, all the fixture controls are on the light head, like other Evoke LED lights. However, to me, for a fixture with such a high power output, the controls should be on the ballast. Indeed, you’re most likely to use the Evoke 2400B to replicate the sun, so it’ll probably be placed high on a light stand or lifting platform, making it difficult to adjust settings quickly. Indeed, you can always use the NANLINK App or DMX, but sometimes you just want to move quickly.

Price and availability

The Evoke 2400B should be ready by Q4 2023, but we don’t have any information about the pricing yet.

What do you think about the Evoke 2400B? Do you think it’ll be able to compete with other fixtures coming out in the meantime? Don’t hesitate to let us know in the comments down below!
