I’ve been using Samyang lenses with great success for the last 3 years and one of the missing focal lengths was just announced, a 50mm T1.5 (f1.4) lens. (The same brand is knows as Rokinon, Walimex, Vivitar, Falcon and some other names in different markets, but they are all the same lenses.) The lens will be officially introduced during upcoming Photokina 2014 in Cologne, Germany. According to Samyang the lens will come in 2 variations: A photo one and VDSLR (de-clicked version). The lens will cover up to a full frame sensor and will come in a variety of mounts for you to choose from. Technically speaking, optics of the lens is consists of nine lens elements arranged in six groups (including one aspherical and one hybrid aspherical lens element). To ensure high contrast and faithful colour reproduction, all lens elements have been covered with multi-layered UMC anti-reflective coatings. [UPDATED with pricing information]: At $550, the lens comes in at a very reasonable and affordable price just as expected. It’s available for preorder at B&H.
