SANDMARC continues to expand their lineup of accessories and filters specifically designed for smartphone filmmaking with the release of the Star Filter. This 43mm filter has a rotatable ring that allows you to adjust the star range from four to eight points. It is compatible with nearly all smartphones on the market, from the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, plus most Android phone models. So, let’s take a closer look at it!
American manufacturer SANDMARC is well-known for their lineup of smartphone filmmaking accessories, such as the anamorphic lens adapter, the Creator Grip, and the recent 6x telephoto lens. Furthermore, the company also makes filters for iPhones and cameras, like the Motion Pro Variable ND we reviewed.
SANDMARC is now back with a new creative smartphone filter: the Star Filter.
The SANDMARC Star Filter is a 43mm filter with an outside diameter of 60mm. Its frame is entirely made of aluminum and weighs 35g/1.2 oz.
This filter has three mounting options: an included Phone Clip Mount, the 43mm Lens Mount, and the Case Mount. In short, it is compatible with every iPhone model from the iPhone 5 to the latest iPhone 16 Pro Max and most Android smartphone models.
Lastly, the Star Filter is obviously compatible with SANDMARC lenses and cases, including the anamorphic, wide, and telephoto lenses.
According to the company, the Star Filter features multi-coated glass, which should reduce light reflections and unwanted glare.
At the front of the filter is a ring that you can rotate to adjust the star range from four to eight points. This is a very interesting feature as you don’t require multiple different filters depending on the effect you are looking for.
The SANDMARC Star Filter is available for pre-order now for $89.99 and should start shipping mid-June.
For more information, please visit SANDMARC’s website here.
What do you think about this creative filter? Do you often use add-on lenses and filters on your smartphone? Don’t hesitate to let us know in the comments down below!
