SIRUI A100B Bi-Color Automatic Inflatable Photography Light

The new A100B Bi-Color light from SIRUI will blow up on productions this year – literally. This bi-color fixture is lightweight, ultra-portable and can auto-inflate in about a minute. Despite this eye-catching new feature, the A100B boasts some impressive specs, too. Let’s take a look at what this new light can do!

SIRUI has been making waves over the past few years with many compelling offerings for photography and videography. Their products range from camera supports to lights and budget anamorphic lenses. They even make climate-controlled cabinets to store your equipment in.

If you haven’t already, check out their unique Dragon Series bendable RGB LED light that was announced this past fall.

Now, SIRUI has yet another lighting product in the works, the SIRUI A100B Bi-Color Automatic Inflatable light.

The SIRUI A100B claims to be “The World’s First Self-Inflating Flat Light Source,” and we have no reason to dispute that claim. For years, there have been other inflatable figures and softboxes on the market, but they have yet to be able to inflate on their own!

Made from a splash-resistant material and boasting a claimed CRI of 96 and TLCI of 98, this fixture might be something to consider to help speed up your shoots.

Inflatable vs. fabric

Tradition fabric LED fixtures take longer to set up, weigh more and require additional brackets.

The less than 4lbs A100B fixture inflates to approximate the same size as a 2×2 LED panel with integrated diffusion and an option grid. A magnetic connector on the back quickly mounts it to a light stand, but the lightweight of the inflatable fixture also allows it to be easily hung or handheld.

The A100B auto inflates by an integrated air bump the moment you turn it on, saving you time and keeping your hands free on a busy shoot day. The fixture is deflated by manually pulling the valve and releasing the air.

The A100B runs off an AC adapter or a V-mount battery while on location. Since it does draw 100W at full brightness, you’ll want to stock up on batteries.

Light control options

The A100B can be controlled either by the base controller unit or the SIRUI Light app at a range of ~50ft. Though the manufacturer doesn’t mention what wireless technology is being used by the A100B, I suspect it is probably just Bluetooth.

Although the fixture isn’t full RGBWW, the 12 lighting effects and wide CCT range of 2800k to 8500k caught my attention. Most “soft white” indoor practical lights hover around 2600-2900k, even though most bi-color lighting fixtures bottom out around 3000k. This can sometimes make quick setups that rely on augmenting practical lighting problematic. I’m always happy to see a fixture that can go below 3000k.
