Blackmagic Design has released DaVinci Resolve 21.0.3, a maintenance update that adds configurable keyframe ease actions and a legacy speed mode retime curve option while fixing issues across editing, Fusion, and scripting. The free update also addresses decoding of some Sony BURANO X-OCN clips and expands the scripting API.
This is the third point release for version 21, the build Blackmagic Design constructed around the new Photo page and an expanded AI toolset, which we covered when Resolve 21 shipped. It follows version 21.0.1, focused on RAW decoding and HDR delivery, and version 21.0.2, which sharpened keyframing and retime behavior.
Resolve 21.0.3 adds configurable keyframe ease actions for finer control over interpolation, fixes adding a keyframe at a subframe position, and corrects pasting keyframes to linked audio clips. A new legacy speed mode retime curve option restores the behavior of older Resolve speed ramps, and the DNG pre tone curve is now enabled by default in new projects.
Broadcast users get a focused cleanup of interlaced media handling: correct Inspector frame display for interlaced transition durations, fixed generator and transition duration interpretation, corrected audio duration for inserted segments, and a resolved field dominance detection issue on some clips.
The update addresses an issue with decoding some Sony BURANO X-OCN clips, removing a potential roadblock for productions finishing material from Sony’s 8.6K CineAlta camera, which we examined in our BURANO lab test. Fusion fixes PSD imports with disabled layers and a bezier window move problem, while the Replay SDI output now always shows the selected camera.
Pipeline developers can now use the scripting API to list project attributes in a bin, work with user preferences presets, and list UI layout and data burn in presets, with a fix for wrong audio mapping scripting results included as well.
Here’s our video interview from NAB about the features of DaVinci Resolve 21, specifically the new Photo Page:
Project libraries remain compatible with DaVinci Resolve 20.3.2, but projects created or opened in 21.0.3 are no longer accessible in the older version, so Blackmagic Design recommends full backups before upgrading. The release requires macOS 15 Sequoia or later on Apple Silicon, Windows 10 Creators Update, Windows 11 for ARM on Snapdragon X Elite systems, or Rocky Linux 8.6, plus Desktop Video 12.9 for monitoring with Blackmagic hardware. Both the free version and DaVinci Resolve Studio are available now from the Blackmagic Design support page.
