Alteon Camera-to-Cloud Workflows - New iPhone App Launched

Collaborative cloud-based service Alteon has just launched a new iPhone app that allows you to send your smartphone footage directly to your Alteon Cloud account for secure storage and collaboration. In addition, this new mobile app removes all existing storage and sharing limitations you might have encountered. So let’s look at how you can get the best out of the free 10GB storage!

We recently reported about the American content management system Alteon, which allows you to accelerate your footage upload. The service can also deliver files and footage – including RAW footage – up to 5TB.

In this day and age, with more content than ever being created for social media, shooting with a smartphone has become widespread. And if you ever had to send footage to someone else without access to a computer, you probably know how painful it can quickly become. Indeed, some of the most well-known free options, like WeTransfer, are limited to 2GB per transfer. With the new Alteon iPhone app, you now have another option to quickly and securely send your footage to collaborators and editors.

Alteon iPhone app launched

The company describes the new Alteon iPhone app as the “direct link between Apple’s powerful camera technology and Alteon’s comprehensive content management system.”

Indeed, once you download the free Alteon app from the App store, you must create an account to send footage from your iOS device directly to your Alteon Cloud account. If you need to go one step further, paid memberships allow you to share your footage with remote team members, such as video editors, who can begin the post-production process.

Once your smartphone footage is uploaded, you will benefit from all the Alteon Cloud services, including automatic transcoding and Adobe Premiere Pro/Final Cut Pro integration. Here is how Alteon describes this new app and workflow:

Designed for content creators of all kinds—including filmmakers, influencers, journalists and production companies—the Alteon app features an intuitive user interface for the benefit of non-tech-savvy users. At the same time, it has professional-grade power that runs in the background of your phone, enabling users to continue using their iPhone while uploading media to the cloud.

After content is uploaded to Alteon, creators can select files and folders to add custom, searchable meta tags; leave color-coded, time-stamped comments on video or audio files; share files and projects with anyone in the world; send secure screener links with optional password protection and expiration dates; and move finished projects into lower-cost storage tiers to save money.

You can tell that they put a lot of work into the app to make it simple to use, and this new offering looks like an excellent alternative to other services.

Price and availability

The Alteon app is now available on the App Store free of charge. Free accounts give you 10GB of storage and access to Alteon’s full suite of extensions and products, including Premiere Pro/Final Cut Pro NLE integration.

If you need more than 10GB, you can get a paid account starting at $12/month. Also, paid accounts unlock the ability to share and join projects, purchase additional terabytes of storage, and save money on lower-cost storage tiers.
