Angelbird introduced a CFexpress 2.0 Type A card with 1 TB for Sony Alpha and Sony FX cameras. So far, it is the highest capacity of CFexpress Type A cards on the market with a sustained writing performance of 650 MB/s. The card is already available and can be ordered for €518 (approx. $570). Let’s have a closer look at this new storage card.
Austrian company Angelbird is specialized in memory cards and SSDs. If you are unfamiliar with this manufacturer, please check out our Angelbird factory tour to find out how the in-house memory cards are produced.
This might be really exciting news for Sony camera users, since the new 1 TB of CFexpress Type A card is engineered for Sony cameras, such as the Sony a1, Sony a7 IV, Sony a7S III, Sony FX3, and the Sony FX6.
Several Sony cameras come with a dual card slot that is compatible with both CFexpress Type A and UHS-II SD cards. But shooting in 4K resolution with Intra-frame compression requires a CFexpress Type A card. Especially if you want to take full advantage of Sony’s “Slow and Quick” modes for optimized playback and the impressive 1200 Mbps recording available in certain settings.
It has a sustained writing speed of 650 MB/s using Angelbird’s Stable Stream™ technology, a maximum speed of up to 730 MB/s, and a read speed of 820 MB/s. This new card provides the critical speed and performance necessary for high-data-rate video recording up to 4K and RAW. Furthermore, with a 1 TB capacity, it enables long-duration video recordings, and thermal management is protecting the card and your valuable content from any overheating effects.
The card comes with a 3-year limited warranty and free in-house data recovery service on hard- and software levels for products activated via the Angelbird website within 30 days of your purchase. You can learn more about this service by clicking here.
You can perform firmware updates directly on your AV PRO CFexpress Type A card with the Angelbird CFexpress Type A card reader. The CFexpress Type A card is compatible with any other card reader on the market, but only with the Angelbird card reader, you can perform firmware updates between the cards and the card reader.
A few weeks ago, the company also launched the Media Tank – a solid case solution where you can safely store and transport up to four CFexpress Type A cards. The case offers hard-shell durability and security for on-the-run production. A secure foam grip provides impact protection and a rattle-proof interior for your media cards.
The new Angelbird AV PRO CFexpress Type A 1 TB card for Sony cameras, the card reader, and the Media Tank can be ordered now. Shipping has already started.
