FEELWORLD S7 Released – 7-Inch On-Camera Monitor with 12G-SDI

FEELWORLD has just released a new 7” onboard monitor, the S7. It features a 1920×1200 display, a maximum brightness of 1600 nits, 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 inputs and outputs with signal cross-conversion, an aluminum housing, support for 3D LUTs, and more. It is now available for $600.

Chinese manufacturer FEELWORLD is well-known for producing affordable field monitors. Their products are worth taking a look at if you’re about to purchase your first external monitor or need a backup unit without breaking the bank.

Last year, the company released the HDMI-only L7 monitor, which was one of the first FEELWORLD products to feature a metal – rather than plastic – housing. The new S7 has a similar, rugged design and adds 12G-SDI to the mix. Let’s take a closer look!

FEELWORLD S7 – overview

The new FEELWORLD S7 features a 7-inch IPS touchscreen display offering a resolution of 1920×1200, a contrast ratio of 1200:1, a viewing angle of 160°, 8-bit color (10-bit FRC), and 1600 nits of brightness. This may be a little disappointing, considering that most monitors can reach 2000cd/m² nowadays.

On the back of the monitor, we can find 3 inputs (12G-SDI, 3G-SDI, and HDMI 2.0) and 2 outputs (12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0). This means that the S7 can support video signals at up to 4K60p. Moreover, the device has SDI/HDMI signal cross-conversion capabilities in both directions.

Up to 52 custom 3D LUTs can be stored on the monitor, and these looks can also be looped out through the HDMI and SDI outputs. There’s also a series of common monitoring tools, including waveform, vectorscope, histogram, peaking, aspect ratio, anamorphic de-squeeze, false color, grids, and more.

The maximum power consumption is claimed to be around 16W. The monitor comes standard with a dual Sony NP-F battery plate, but an optional V-mount battery plate is also available to purchase separately. Alternatively, you can still use the 7-24V DC input to power the monitor using a V-mount battery and a D-Tap cable.

Unlike many other FEELWORLD monitors that are made of plastic, the S7 comes with CNC-machined aluminum housing. The device measures 242x165x23mm, weighs approximately 550g, and provides three 1/4”-20 mounting points (left, right, bottom).

Price and availability

The new FEELWORLD S7 monitor is now available to purchase from the manufacturer’s website. The monitor retails for $599.99 and comes with a mini hot shoe mount, a Sony NP-F970 Dual Battery Plate, and a couple of HDMI cables.
