At IBC 2023, we visited the FEELWORLD booth and had a look at their latest offering, the SEETEC WPC215 21.5in (54,61cm) portable carry-on director’s monitor. This display is designed for on-set monitoring and boasts a full HD 1920×1080 IPS screen with a maximum brightness of 1000 nits and an 8-bit display with Dual HDMI and SDI input and output.

FEELWORLD is a Chinese company known for their on-camera monitors as well as their series of video lights and wireless video systems. Here, they are presenting something quite unique with a portable, carry-on director’s monitor – the WPC215. Housed in a robust, portable case, this director’s monitor operates wirelessly, eliminating the need for on-camera mounting. Simply open the case, attach the receiver, and you’re ready to go.

WPC215 – easier to view with plenty of functions

The SEETEC WPC215 offers both SDI and 4K HDMI input and output, so it works with various types of cameras, including film cameras, DSLRs, and mirrorless cameras. With 1920×1080 FHD and a maximum brightness of 1000nits, it should be much easier to see outside or in bright conditions. Monitoring functions include Waveform, Vectorscope, RGB Histogram, Focus Assist, and more. There is a built-in 4 DE-log LUT, and you can import your own custom LUTs using the USB interface. The size of the unit (without the bracket) is 20.14x14x0.92″ / 51.16×35.56×2.33cm and weighs 9.41lb/4.27kg.

Input/output and attachment options

The rear panel of FEELWORLD’s SEETEC WPC215 is equipped with a 3G-SDI port, two HDMI-A ports, and a USB input. It also offers a 3G-SDI and HDMI-A (supporting up to 4K@30) output. In terms of audio, the WPC215 has two built-in speakers and a 3.5mm earphone jack. The case is equipped with two 1/4-inch threads on both the right side and top, allowing for the mounting of a wireless receiver or accessories. With the WPC215’s loop-out capability, you can connect it to other devices so that multiple people can monitor the footage at the same time. Audio is available through two integrated, internal speakers below the screen.

The WPC215's waterproof case is certified at IP67.

The portable, waterproof case is certified at IP67, one of the highest levels of protection offered by an IP rating. So your case is protected not only against water but dust and airborne particles as well. In addition, there is a sealing ring around the screen for double protection against the elements. The case also has a separate compartment for storing extra batteries or accessories. With a separate lid on this compartment, you needn’t worry that the screen might get scratched.

Price and availability

The FEELWORLD SEETEC WPC215 is available for $1299, and a smaller model featuring a 15.6-inch screen is slated for future release. FEELWORLD ensures monitor calibration with Calman software before shipping.
