MUTINY recently teased a new accessory for the RED KOMODO, KOMODO-X, and V-RAPTOR: the MUTINY KX-IO. This port expander plate will be available in either V-Mount or Gold-Mount version and will feature many power input and output ports. So let’s take a closer look at it!
American manufacturer MUTINY recently launched a bolt-on V2 R/S trigger for Canon cameras, but the company is now back with what they’re most well-known for: RED camera accessories. Last year, MUTINY launched an impressive V-RAPTOR port expander plate. Ahead of Cine Gear 2023, the company teased an updated version compatible with the RED KOMODO/KOMODO-X and the V-RAPTOR: the MUTINY KX-IO.
The MUTINY KX-IO is an expander and power plate, which attaches directly to the back of the RED KOMODO, KOMODO-X, and V-RAPTOR. At the time of writing, there is little information about it, but here are all the ports, power input, and outputs ports it’ll give you:
As you can tell, this MUTINY KX-IO looks like a nice evolution of their RAPTOR IO port expander plate. There is currently no information about pricing yet, but to give you an idea, the RAPTOR IO plate retails for $1,200. Pre-orders should start next week, and shipping in around three to four weeks. If you want to see the KX-IO plate in person, you can check it out at Cinegear LA in the Candreva USA / MUTINY booth #156.
What do you think about this plate for the KOMODO, KOMODO-X, and V-RAPTOR? Could it be helpful for the kind of shooting you do? What is your go-to RED DSMC3 expander plate? Don’t hesitate to let us know in the comments down below!
