Nikon Exits NAB 2020 Amid Coronavirus Flu Concerns

Just announced: Nikon becomes the latest manufacturer to pull out of NAB 2020 as Covid-19 a.k.a coronavirus flu continues to spread. This announcement comes on the heels of AJA’s statement that the company would also not be attending the popular annual photo & video trade show in Vegas. Details below:

Here is the full statement from Nikon:

MELVILLE, NY – Nikon’s first priority is always the health and safety of our employees, partners and customers. As we continue to closely monitor and gauge the impact of COVID-19, Nikon Inc. and MRMC, a Nikon Group company, have made the decision not to participate in NAB 2020. We will continue to closely evaluate our travel policies, programs and activities to mitigate risk.

The reaction to the spread of the coronavirus flu has been varied when it comes to tech and entertainment industry trade shows. Facebook recently cancelled their annual F8 developer conference, but the Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle is going ahead as of publishing, despite additional cancellations from attendees being announced on social media.

HERE are the CDC guidelines for prevention & treatment in the unlikely event you come in contact with the COVID-19 virus.

As we previously mentioned, the cinema5D team is ready to attend NAB to cover the show as usual. We’ll only not attend if the show is completely canceled, but in any case, we will find ways to report the news to our audience.

Has the spread of coronavirus changed your travel plans? Are you planning on attending NAB? Let us know in the comments below!
