The OWC Rover Pro wheels are the first real alternative to Apple’s 2019 Mac Pro wheels. Instead of spending $699 (USA) or 827,55€ (EU) for the Apple Mac Pro Wheels Kit in their online store, users may now opt for the OWC Rover Pro, currently discounted from $249 to $199, arriving in September. The OWC Rover Pro is thereby also $100 cheaper than the simple Apple Mac Pro Feet Kit.
OWC Rover Pro – Overview
This product is really about enabling some essential “rollability” for your 2019 Mac Pro. OWC promises a straightforward and swift 2 min tool-less installation process for the four 360° articulating wheels designed to fit the Mac Pro’s typical silver design elegantly.
Manufactured from stainless steel and equipped with soft and silently rolling rubber, the wheels have their own “Wheels On, Wheels Off” design with patent-pending status in the USA. At the same time, the company declares to abide by all of the “Made in the USA” regulatory standards.
Protection, flexibility, noiselessness and versatility
With just a couple of movements and turns of your hands, the Mac Pro will swiftly change from regular stands to rolling around. The package also comes with an option to guard the Mac against unintentional shifting its place, which is a rubber wheel stop that holds the Mac in place without dismounting the wheels. It also secures the product from scratches and protects its surface with its spacer functionality. The bearings are said to have only a little friction, which should enable soundless and flexible mobility.
This set of wheels ultimately enables the user to conveniently move the expensive and luxurious 2019 Mac Pro in a studio, on a shooting location with an even floor, and under the desk in the editing suite.
There is a constant debate about Apple’s accessories, like stands and additional parts that they sell at very high prices.
