Tilta released a lineup of accessories specifically designed for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max smartphones: the Tilta Khronos ecosystem. At the system’s core are tailor-made iPhone cases made from aluminum alloy. The case connects to your iPhone’s USB-C port and features multiple integrated circuits/ports all around it so you can connect and power accessories cable-free. So, let’s take a closer look at all the bits and pieces of the Tilta Khronos ecosystem!
Tilta released “The X Gift” in December 2023, a short film entirely shot on the iPhone 15 Pro by Angie Su and photographed by Oscar-winning DoP Claudio Miranda, ASC. This promo film also teased their upcoming Khronos ecosystem of accessories for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, which was supposed to start shipping at the end of January 2024. However, it took Tilta a bit more time than expected to finalize their design, but the time has finally come: Tilta Khronos bundles and accessories are now available to order!
Let’s start with the main component of the Tilta Khronos ecosystem: the cages for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. These cages are made from aluminum alloy, available in Space Gray and Titanium White colorways, and won’t add much weight to your phone: 69.5g/2.45oz for the 15 Pro and 83g/2.92oz for the 15 Pro Max model. To install the case, you’ll need a screwdriver to secure your phone in place with four screws, ensuring that the case and all accompanying accessories remain firmly attached.
The case features multiple mounting points throughout, including a proprietary locking clamp mechanism for mounting handles, filters, USB-C hubs, etc., but more on that later.
As you can see in the images, there are also multiple integrated electronic contact points. These contact points allow you to pass power through the cage to power accessories without cables. However, these ports are powered with the optional Power Handle and not your iPhone directly. Lastly, the back of the case features a large MagSafe-compatible mounting point.
Tilta developed a plethora of accessories that can be attached nearly everywhere you want/need around your iPhone, including:
That’s 30 products in total, but to make your life easier, Tilta offers multiple kits, including Lightweight, Basic, Advanced, and Ultimate kits.
All Tilta Khronos products are available now. There are many products, but to give you an idea, the Tilta Khronos case for the iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max retails for $129, the Focus PD handle is $149, the quick-release USB-C hub is $79, and the MagSafe cooling system is $59.
If you want to save some money, you can get the Khronos Lightweight kit for $199, the Basic kit for $279, the Advanced kit for $369, and lastly, the Ultimate kit for $569.
Last but not least, if you’re attending NAB in Las Vegas, Tilta will organize a raffle on April 14th, 15th, and 16th at 3:00 p.m. at the Tilta booth (C4725). You’ll have the chance to win a Khronos Kit along with an iPhone 15 Pro every day!
