Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K with full-frame sensor and L-mount is currently available with a massive, time-limited 40% discount for $1,575. That means more than $1,000 off. The deal is available with resellers worldwide. Blackmagic Design, however, says stock is extremely limited, so don’t think twice if you want to get the camera.
We have seen interesting discounts from the Australian manufacturer in the past, but this one seems to be one of the most appealing ones given you can now buy a camera model that’s only a few months old at 40% off. The special offer applies to all resellers – you can use one of our partner shops for example:
Announced during the IBC 2023 show in Amsterdam, the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K is the company’s first camera model with a full-frame-sized sensor. Offering OLPF (optical low-pass filter) and Blackmagic RAW recording with optional H.264 proxy files, the camera can record BRAW in 6K full-frame 3:2 at up to 36fps or 6K 2.4:1 at up to 60fps.
Of course, we also put the camera through its paces during our CineD Lab Test. You can see the results here in case you missed it. Additionally, the camera also found its way into our camera database where you can see all the details including recording modes and times.
It is also the first Blackmagic camera to feature a modern, short-flanged mirrorless mount – the Leica L lens mount. Prior to the announcement of the Cinema 6K, Blackmagic Design quietly joined the L-mount Alliance, which was a rather logical step. This camera having an L-mount means there are a variety of lenses out there from Leica, Panasonic, and SIGMA already.
In the near future, we can also expect a handful of L-mount lenses from the Korean manufacturer Samyang, as the company also joined the L-Mount Alliance last year. This is a welcomed addition as Samyang has been known for affordable lenses, and they have some unique offerings including AF-equipped lenses, such as the 35-150mm f/2.0-2.8, in their portfolio.
The current discount is, as far as I remember, one of the largest discounts (in terms of percentage) that Blackmagic Design has ever offered on this camera. The reason might be that the camera is selling a tad slower than what the company anticipated and they need to make space for the new PYXIS 6K which is supposed to start shipping next month.
