The RED Komodo is getting into the hands of more and more filmmakers. One nice thing about this camera is that you can control it remotely via an App on your iOS/Android smartphone: the RED CONTROL App. Let’s take a closer look at it!
RED just released its free app that allows you to control the RED Komodo wirelessly: the RED CONTROL App.
This App is compatible with iOS and Android smartphones, and it is available to download for free on the Apple App Store/Google Play Store. The camera connects to the App via WiFi. Also, you can access the UI of the camera via its IP address.
According to the company, the App “offers users a unique, customizable interface and the ability to live stream from the camera, navigate the entire menu, and offers both portrait and landscape modes with a full-screen option. Lens control requires a compatible electronic lens.”
The App is only compatible with the RED Komodo; for DSMC/DSMC2 users, you’ll still have to use FoolControl that we reviewed here.
What do you think about this RED App to control the RED Komodo? Did you received your Komodo yet, or are you still in the pre-order queue? Don’t hesitate to let us know in the comments below!
