Sony FX6 Firmware v5.0 Now Available - 1.5x Anamorphic De-Squeeze, App Support

Sony just released a new firmware update for their FX6 cinema camera. The 5.0 version adds the 1.5x de-squeeze function for anamorphic lenses, support for the Monitor & Control App, and additional lenses supported by the breathing compensation feature, among other improvements.

The Sony FX6 is a popular, compact, full-frame cinema camera introduced in 2020, featuring a native 4K 10.2 megapixel sensor, an electronic variable ND filter, and a dual native ISO of 800 and 12,800 ISO. You can watch our initial review here and read our Lab Test sensor tests for the camera. Sony updated the FX6 with the 5.0 firmware update launched today. Users must install the (free) Monitor & Control smartphone app 2.0 or later for full functionality since the monitoring function will not be available in the Content Browser Mobile app after the update.
