SWIT FM, BMU, and BMH Series Monitors Introduce Built-In, Near-Zero Latency Mode

February 17th, 2026Jump to Comment Section

During the BSC Expo 2026 in London, we learned that most SWIT monitors have a near-zero latency (under 5ms) with a wired input. This includes SWIT monitors from the FM, BMU, and BMH series, and it is useful for applications where every millisecond counts. We met with Chenglong Wang from SWIT at their booth to learn more about the built-in near-zero-latency feature in most of their monitors.

Usually, when we talk about latency in regard to monitoring, we mean wireless connection. This is simply because there are huge differences in different wireless video transmission systems, and the latency ranges from only a few milliseconds (near-zero latency) to hundreds of milliseconds with the most affordable systems.

We rarely discuss latency on wired connections because it is typically very low and there are no significant differences among products. In applications that require near-zero latency, it is important to consider latency for wired inputs as well.

SWIT’s near-zero latency feature

As Chenglong told us in our interview, some of the SWIT monitors showed a near-zero latency response – the delay is under 5 milliseconds. In fact, some of these monitors are used in a Baltic opera house in Poland to display the conductor’s hands for reference in real-time. Thanks to the very low latency, the reactions to his movements are almost instant. There is an interesting article about this practical example over at SWIT’s webpage. The near-zero latency function ensures that every member of the orchestra, all spectators, and crew members in backstage are seeing the conductor’s hands and baton without any perceptible delay.

When it comes to the SWIT product lineup, we were told that all monitors in the BMU, BMH, and FM series include this near-zero-latency feature. An example of a recent monitor model that has this feature is the SWIT FM-215HDR, which we reported on in 2024. It is a 21.5 in (24.6 cm) production monitor with a Full HD display and 1000 nits of brightness (true HDR). It accepts 4K video signals and offers a quad view feature. The monitor has a 12G-SDI input and an automatic calibration feature.

Another recent model in the FM series is the larger SWIT FM-U245HDR with a 24.5 in (62.2 cm) 4K display. We reported on this model last year in July. In fact, we were told that most SWIT monitors larger than 17 in (43 cm) have this near-zero latency feature built in.

Price and availability

We were told that SWIT monitors with this near-zero-latency feature are priced between €1,800 ($2,130) and €4,000 ($4,745). For instance, the SWIT FM-215HDR is currently selling for €2,017.20 ($2,189).
