DoPchoice SNAP RABBIT Introduced – Magnet-Assisted Quick-Open Softbox System

February 16th, 2026Jump to Comment Section

At BSC Expo 2026, DoPchoice introduced the SNAP RABBIT, a new softbox system that approaches setup in a different way. We spoke with Stefan Karle at their booth, where he demonstrated a magnet-assisted opening mechanism intended to make deploying larger softboxes quicker and less forceful.

We recently covered DoPchoice’s Octa 5′ Shallow Soft developed with NANLUX, which you can read about here. SNAP RABBIT builds on that format but uses a different opening mechanism. Instead of relying on traditional rod tension systems or force-heavy expansion methods, the unit unfolds outward and closes into position using integrated magnets.

Opening mechanism

Larger Octa-style softboxes often require noticeable force during setup, which can become awkward in tighter environments or when working quickly on set.

With SNAP RABBIT, the structure opens outward in a wing-like motion and closes into place with integrated magnets. During the demonstration, the opening required little effort, and once extended, the magnets held the frame in position without additional fastening.

Mount options and design

SNAP RABBIT supports multiple mount systems, including compatibility with Aputure’s A-mount, NANLUX’s NL mount, and conventional Bowens-type mounts, depending on configuration.

Another noticeable design choice is the white interior. Stefan explained that using a white lining allows the softbox to remain relatively shallow while maintaining an even spread across the diffusion surface. That reduced depth can be useful in smaller rooms, where space is limited – particularly when paired with NL mount fixtures, where the output remains even across the front surface without requiring an additional internal baffle.

Size roadmap

SNAP RABBIT launches in an Octa 5 configuration. DoPchoice is gathering user feedback before introducing additional sizes. Interest has already been expressed in larger formats, potentially extending to a 7′ version. Smaller sizes are also possible, depending on demand.

Price and availability

SNAP RABBIT is scheduled to ship in approximately two to three months. Pricing is expected to fall in the €600 to €700 range, with final figures still being confirmed. For more information, you can visit the DoPchoice website.

In addition to SNAP RABBIT, DoPchoice presented a SNAPBAG accessory for the Astera QuickBeam, which was just announced at the beginning of the month. The accessory is sold separately and is not included with the QuickBeam fixture. The QuickBeam SNAPBAG is expected to be available within the next three weeks at a price of approximately €125.

Guys, what do you think of the SNAP RABBIT? What softbox do you usually use? Let us know!
