DZOFILM has temporarily reduced the prices of their Vespid Prime cine lenses as of today, April 29, 2025, making them a more accessible option for independent filmmakers and small crews. Let’s take a look at the lenses and the new pricing!
Introduced in 2020 as a 6-lens kit, the Vespid Prime series was designed to offer full-frame cine lenses in a lightweight, versatile form factor. It later expanded to cover eleven focal lengths, including the ultra-wide 12mm introduced in 2023. You can also read about the 21mm and 40mm T2.1 primes here. As of April 29, 2025, the lenses will be temporarily available at a significantly lower price, starting at $799. You can see sample footage shot with the Vespid Primes in the following video:
The series covers 11 focal lengths—12mm, 16mm, 21mm, 25mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm, 75mm, 90mm macro, 100mm, and 125mm – each with full-frame coverage (Vista Vision, 46.5mm image circle). The lenses are built with lightweight metal housing starting at 725g (25.6oz), and are designed for flexibility across handheld, gimbal, drone, and traditional cine setups.
Optical features include chromatic aberration control to minimize color fringing, a 16-blade iris for smooth, natural-looking bokeh, and a 270° focus rotation with standardized 0.8 mod gearing for consistent handling across the lineup.
The Vespid Primes are available now and can be purchased as a single lens or in the following kits (PL or EF mounts) and are (temporarily) priced as follows. The end date for these prices has not yet been finalized.

A camera was put in my hands at 16, and I’ve been taking photographs ever since. Before moving to Vienna, I worked as a photographer on film sets, telling stories as they unfolded behind the scenes. Since then, I’ve focused on immersive theater, both as a photographer and an actor. I am the photographer for the award-winning Nesterval ensemble, documenting the energy and atmosphere of their performances. I’m a teller of stories. Stories hold my interest. I’ll take on any project with a story to tell.
