Godox Magic XT1 Wireless Microphone System – First Look

At the Godox booth at NAB 2024, Graham spoke with Rita from Godox about their new release, the Magic XT1 2.4 GHz wireless microphone system. This tiny system weighing only 8g/0.28oz fits in the palm of your hand and has quite a unique feature – the receiver itself is the charging case.

Godox has produced several wireless systems recently – for example, the Godox WEC Compact Dual-Mic Wireless System (reviewed here) and the Godox VIRSO and VIRSO S (reviewed here). Here at NAB 2024, Rita walked us through the features of their new system, the Magic XT1, pointing out that having the receiver as the charging case was a real highlight.

The Magic XT1 – features

The Magic XT1 has a customizable OLED touchscreen and buttons, and in addition, it has a 3.5mm headphone jack. It features 48kHz/24bit Hi-Res audio with a 70dB SNR and a Max. 115dB SPL. Maximum LOS range is 200m/656ft. There are 3 recording modes: mono, stereo, and a safety track channel (-6dB B channel). The safety track signal, used as a backup, selects the most stable signal to send back to the receiver.

The system is supported by the USB Audio Class (UAC) standards. Users get instant digital audio connectivity to a desktop and create via a Type-C cable.

Graham tested out the 1-click dynamic noise reduction (DNR), and I have to say, I thought it was pretty impressive! There is a 150Hz low-cut filter and 10-level volume adjustment for each microphone. The transmitter has an 8-hour runtime, and the system can record up to 16 hours when powered by the receiver.
