ProClip USA, a leader in precision-engineered mobile mounting solutions, has announced its acquisition of INOVATIV, the California-based manufacturer of premium carts and mobile workstations trusted by DITs, camera crews, and production professionals worldwide. The deal brings together two companies with complementary expertise in mounting systems and workflow solutions.
INOVATIV has built a strong reputation as the go-to brand for professional film carts, with products like the Apollo, Scout, Deploy, and Echo workstations becoming staples on sets around the globe. The company’s focus on aerospace-grade aluminum construction, modular design, and practical features like the motorized wheel system we covered at NAB 2024 has earned it a loyal following among cinematographers, DITs, and lighting technicians.
ProClip, headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, specializes in device mounting solutions for professional environments across fleet, retail, manufacturing, and healthcare sectors. The company works with Swedish manufacturing partner Brodit AB and brings over 30 years of experience in precision-engineered mounting systems.
The strategic rationale centers on complementary technologies. ProClip’s expertise lies in device-specific mounting and attachment solutions, while INOVATIV excels at mobile workstation platforms. Combining these capabilities could result in more integrated solutions addressing the full workflow chain.
Patrick Blewett, INOVATIV’s founder and CEO, will remain with the company. In the announcement, Blewett noted that the partnership would allow INOVATIV to accelerate its mission while expanding into new industries beyond film and broadcast.
ProClip CEO Bjorn Spilling emphasized that INOVATIV would continue operating under its existing brand and product philosophy, meaning the Apollo, Scout, Deploy, and other product lines should remain available with the same design approach and quality standards.
The immediate question is whether this acquisition will affect INOVATIV’s product development or pricing. According to the announcement, customers can expect continuity in products, quality, and support. Pricing will be evaluated to reflect improved efficiencies, though no specific changes have been announced.
With ProClip’s resources behind it, INOVATIV may accelerate product development cycles and expand its accessory ecosystem. We have covered several INOVATIV releases over the years, from the original Apollo announcement in 2018 to the Deploy vertical rack-mount workstation in 2023, and the company has consistently iterated on user feedback.
The potential integration of ProClip’s mounting technologies with INOVATIV’s cart systems could yield interesting results, such as standardized mounting points that accept ProClip’s modular device holders or purpose-built monitor solutions designed specifically for DIT workflows.
This acquisition reflects a broader trend of consolidation in the professional equipment space. While there are other cart manufacturers including Magliner and various rental house solutions, INOVATIV occupies the premium end with its focus on collapsible designs, aerospace-grade materials, and modular accessories. The Scout NXT we covered in 2017 demonstrated the company’s commitment to solving real production challenges like airline-friendly dimensions.
The companies have stated this acquisition is about growth rather than cost-cutting. INOVATIV products are designed and manufactured in Southern California, and there has been no indication this will change. For production professionals currently using INOVATIV equipment or considering a purchase, the practical advice is to proceed as normal.
