SWIT OMNI-50S & OMNI-99S Pocket V-mount Batteries Explained

On the show floor at NAB 2024, we visited SWIT’s booth to check out their newly-introduced OMNI V-mount battery series, consisting of a 50Wh as well as a 99Wh model. They can come in handy to power a small camera rig, but can also act as a backup for your phone, tablet, or laptop on set.

When it comes to power solutions for cameras and accessories, SWIT is a well-established manufacturer. The company offers a wide range of products, from high-end B-mount batteries for ARRI’s flagship ALEXA 35, for example, down to V-mount mini-size bricks like their MINO series.

At NAB 2024, the company debuted two new pocket-size models, the OMNI-50S and OMNI-99S, so we were eager to learn more about their features directly from Neal Ni from SWIT. Let’s take a closer look at what we’ve learned!

SWIT OMNI-50S & OMNI-99S – Mini size, high load

The SWIT OMNI-50S and OMNI-99S come in the form of two pocket-size V-mount batteries with a capacity of 50 and 99Wh, respectively. The 50Wh model measures 74x102x33mm and weighs 0.33kg, while the 99Wh is slightly larger (74x102x52mm) and heavier (0.55kg).

The batteries can withstand a constant load of 100W (OMNI-50S) and 150W (OMNI-99S), and offer different types of connections to power accessories or even recharge the batteries. These include:

• 1x USB-A port (5V/2A)
• 1x USB-C in/out port (65W out / 30W in for OMNI-50S and 48W in for OMNI-99S)
• 1x Barrel DC (8.4V regulated output / 3A)
• 1x D-Tap (14.4V with up to 8A on the OMNI-50S and 12A on the OMNI-99S)

Moreover, the battery has a front LED status display that can showcase information regarding the remaining battery life, charging status, input and output power, as well as battery health.

Also, the batteries have an interesting Smart Hibernate Mode that puts them into a low-power consumption state when they’re left idle for long periods of times. Finally, according to SWIT, the batteries can survive extreme temperatures ranging from -20° up to +50°C and have BMS multiple circuit protection.

Price and availability

The SWIT OMNI-50S and OMNI-99S V-mount batteries are now available to pre-order. Their official retail price is set at $129 and $199, respectively.
